If your wardrobe isn’t working for you, there’s a very good reason why. However, it’s probably not what you think it is.
Here are just some of the things people think are causing their wardrobe woes. If I had a pound for every time I heard these below comments when doing a wardrobe edit, I’d be rich!
Perceived wardrobe insecurities
“ I have an obscene amount of clothes”. Nope, you haven’t got more clothes than anyone else. You probably just have more clothes you need to ditch. You’ll be able to see and wear the clothes you love if you get rid of the deadwood.
“There is nothing in my wardrobe”. Unless you’re a full time naturist there is always something in your wardrobe. What this really means is there is not much you like wearing. Set aside time to assess what you do have and make a note of any gaps so you can shop with intention.
“I have no sense of style”. Everyone has their own personal style. Style is just your tastes, an understanding of what suits you and outfits that fit your lifestyle. Sometimes it gets lost but you can always find it again with a little effort.
“I’m not the size I used to be, I’ll diet to wear those again!”. Our shape and size changes over the years. Don’t put yourself under unnecessary pressure, dress the size you are, not the size you think you should be.
“Getting rid of (expensive item I never wear) is a waste of money”. The money has already been spent so it’s best to move on. You’ll feel a whole lot better about it once it’s gone. It’s the Sunk Cost fallacy thing.
And here are the REAL reasons I come across:-
Common wardrobe issues
- You are stuck in your comfort zone of wearing the same things on repeat
- Your lifestyle has changed but your wardrobe hasn’t.
- You lack outfit building pieces
- Your figure has changed so you’re not sure what suits your bodyshape
- You shop without intention or a plan.
The good news is, there really are no wardrobe issues that can’t be sorted!
Imagine how you would feel opening your wardrobe, grabbing an outfit for any occasion and walking out of the door feeling great. That’s what clients who book a Wardrobe Style and Edit are able to do.
Here’s what my clients have to say about their Wardrobe Style and Refresh sessions with me:
“I had a cupboard full of old clothes. And I was stuck in a style rut, wearing skinny jeans and a jumper all the time. Sally gave me the confidence and direction I needed to branch out.”
“I now have a wardrobe which I love wearing and is also super organised!!
Sally provided me with great tips for things to complement my current wardrobe and also things to buy to add to make more outfit.”
Spring is really the perfect time to transform your style. You’ll step out into the sunshine (or rain) in outfits that give you confidence and that you love wearing.
