Are you bored of going out in jeans and a sparkly top?
Yes? Me too! Don’t get me wrong, this is a great combo but having worn it to many a do, I feel the need for an update. There are so many gorgeous party worthy styles around in the shops it can be hard to choose which direction to go in – velvet suits and fabulous jewelled coloured dresses to name but a few. I always advise my clients to start with the items they love and work back from there. I’m a big fan of a statement skirt as it forces me out of jeans/trousers so I used that as a base for this outfit. If you would like some inspiration, here are my five key points to pull together a fresh party outfit without spending a fortune:-
1.As I’ve already said, start with the styles you like and work from there. If you’re a fan of trousers then try a new style or colour.
2. If you’re buying a new separate piece choose one that works with at least one item of clothing in your wardrobe. This skirt works with a camisole and blazer that I already own.
3. Don’t neglect the accessories as they can make or break an outfit. I’ve used black here as it’s a colour that is already in most people’s wardrobes. I would update the earrings though to keep it fresh but thankfully these cost a lot less than shoes and a bag.
4. Avoid all black and red. Controversial I know but I feel this colour combination looks a bit tired now and can leave you feeling a bit ‘meh!’ If you’re not a fan of brights combine midnight, burgundy and metallics.
5. Remember you’re out to have fun so ensure the outfit is fit for purpose and comfortable. The most obvious problem being shoes that you can’t dance in. I would also suggest you do the ‘YMCA’ test which is checking you can wave your hands in the air without showing the world your tummy – unless you so desire!
