Dressing from the neck up, working from home chic and floral face masks. Who would have guessed these would be part of our wardrobes before lockdown? Covid-19 has changed our lives in many ways we could not have imagined back in March and with it our style too.
If you are one of the many people who are struggling to adapt their wardrobes to this shift in lifestyle then go easy on yourself. You would be hard pressed to find anyone out there who hasn’t found this a challenge. The good news is that we are nothing if not adaptable creatures and it takes just three simple steps to recover your style. Here are my three ‘r’s to show you how:-
August is the perfect time to give yourself a break and that means from clothes shopping too. If you’re not sure what to buy then don’t buy anything. Instead press pause and take the time to reflect on what you love to wear. Do you go for comfort, colour or love anything as long as it’s denim? Sometimes it’s hard to see for looking so allowing ourselves time to stand back and reflect can be more insightful than spending hours searching for something.
In all likelihood your wardrobe will need some adapting to the new situation. The best way to work out what you need is to focus on the activities you have difficultly finding outfits for. Do you struggle to look professional on video calls or do you find informal smart casual dressing a pain? When you have worked out what the gaps are you will be able to revise what is in your wardrobe to ensure it works for your ‘new’ lifestyle.
Now comes the part when you need to take action. Create a shopping list for what you need and research the items thoroughly online before you make a purchase. Set your self a time limit and focus on one style at a time so you don’t get side tracked and order a sofa! I would recommend focusing on two to three items at first as having a long list can be overwhelming.
