Are you tired of your trainers? I know I am! Proper shoes feel very grown up after months spent wearing trainers and slippers in lockdown. It’s not quite sandals weather yet either so flat shoes are the perfect in-between style to keep your toes warm and your look stylish.
They look great worn simply with jeans and a blazer and you can also complete your 10k daily steps in them – bonus! The high street has caught onto this trend too so there are plenty of styles around which means you’ll find one to suit your pocket.
Here are my three favourite shoe styles on the high street:-
Loafers and moccasins are very popular at the moment. There are a multitude of different styles around – choose from chunky, refined, pointed, chain trims and colourful designer styles. Gucci’s are a snip at nearly £600! Black chunky loafers are not the best style if you have wide calves, I know this from experience! Instead choose a more refined style in a light colour like these Mango ones as they are far more flattering.
M&S shoes department has some of the most sought after styles at the moment. They have done a superb job of ‘interpreting’ some of the hot designer shoes at reasonable prices and they are made from leather too. Quilting and basket weave is a key look at the moment which has filtered down from the catwalk. The tan quilted flats from M&S have been much revered by fashion editors and have actually sold out already.
Here we are again with ballet flats! I love the bow detail on this style and the softness of the leather. It isn’t the cheapest style but I’ve chosen it as it is well made and has a proper sole. Too many ballet flats are actually far too, erm, flat and therefore really not good to wear all day. If you are buying a pair ensure they feel and look like shoes as opposed to slippers.
