Are you bored of your summer wardrobe?
Have you worn the same few summer styles for the best part of two months and are now tired of them? If the answer is yes, you are not alone. In the slightly off kilter world of the retail buying calendar the shops officially finished their summer season in June, just when the heat wave hit! August is a time when they start to build their autumn stock so it’s ready for us to shop in September. This has led to a bit of a shortage (and there really is a shortage of shorts) of new summer styles to choose from.
Rest assured, I won’t be utilising my limited sewing skills to run up some sun dresses. I can however tell you about a few styles to buy now that will inject some new life into your wardrobe. Not only are they ideal to wear now you’ll also be able to wear them well into the autumn too.
Leopard print midi skirt
I’m saving up for this one as it’s such a brilliantly versatile piece. I love how it’s styled here with a simple white t-shirt and a pop of colour. It would look just as elegant with a black jacket and ankle boots when the weather changes.
Skirt – Rixo
Snake print shirt dress
It’s no coincidence that there are a lot of animal prints around at the moment. They look fresh and work just as well for summer and autumn. You could wear this style open with shorts and a vest on holiday and layer over jeans in autumn.
Dress – Top Shop
Clutch bag
A brightly coloured clutch will give a new lease of life to any tired outfit. Remember it’s for life (well nearly if treated well) and not just summer.
Bag – Anthropologie
Statement earrings
Large gold earrings add an instant touch of glamour to any outfit. Don’t just save for special occasions either as they look fabulous worn at any time of the day, although maybe not on the beach!
Earrings – Zara
Mules
I have to do a lot of pavement pounding in my job so I’m always on the lookout for fabulous shoes that I can actually walk in. I also try not to inflict my toes on the world at large when in a professional capacity so these mules tick all the right boxes.
Shoes – Zara
